Anointing of the Sick is a Catholic sacrament where a priest anoints a seriously ill or elderly person with blessed oil offering spiritual strength, peace, courage, and forgiveness of sins, uniting them to Christ's passion, and preparing them for eternal life, with physical healing possible if God wills it.
A serious illness can cause many people to lose faith in God and to feel hopeless. The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament that gains grace for the ill person, and assures them that God is always with His people, even in the most dire of situations.
The sacrament of God's healing and strength is for anyone who is suffering with emotional, mental or physical illnesses. Individuals may request Anointing of the Sick at home, in the hospital, nursing care facilities, before surgeries, during recovery, etc.
If a loved one is sick or dying, please call the Parish Office at 920-739-3196 to be directed to a priest for anointing.
