This ministry was started back in 2023 to reach out and support parishioners who have recently experienced a health challenge, a hospital stay, a surgery or time in a nursing home for rehabilitation. There could be other life changing situations as well such as the death of a loved one, financial hardship or the unexpected loss of a job. These are critical times in a person’s life, and this is where the parish would like to step in and offer you our prayers, support and a meal brought to you. Often when hard times happen, no one wants to cook. We have had numerous parish members of Sacred Heart be on the receiving end of this beautiful pastoral outreach ministry. The response has been extremely positive. They are so grateful for the help and support, prayers and thoughtfulness of their church. All meals are purchased complete from an area store and delivered sealed and ready to go. For those who have specific dietary needs, those can be accommodated as well.
This ministry is entirely funded through the generous donations of parishioners who want to make a difference in the life of someone else. Nothing is spent from the parish budget. In some cases, those that receive a meal have turned around and donated financially to the ministry as a way of giving back.
Ending on a positive note, we would also loved to share in the good news for parish families, not just experiencing trauma. If they have recently had a new baby, we would love to support those new parents as well.
If you know of someone who the parish can assist, please let us know. This can be done anonymously too. You can also call in for yourself. It is often hard to support a situation if we do not have knowledge of it. We respect your privacy and information is kept strictly confidential.
